Your Roots:
Whether it is a family, a community, a movement, or even a philosophy; all of us are rooted to someone or something. Roots are important. They give stability and provide nourishment. Roots are important for your social well-being. Our Roots: As the son of a retired military officer and the daughter of a retired GM employee, my wife and I are very familiar with what it means to have been rooted to this community. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that God would allow us to reconnect with the place where we grew up, and begin to establish roots of our own. Everyone’s Roots: As important as roots are to your social well-being, they are equally essential to your spiritual well-being. In Colossians we are encouraged to be “rooted and built up in Him (Christ).” As universal as our desire for roots is, God’s desire is for you to establish your roots in Him! But where does one begin in this rooting process? 1. REALIZE GOD LOVES YOU. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 2. REALIZE EVERYONE IS A SINNER. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 3. REALIZE SIN HAS A PRICE THAT MUST BE PAID. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 4. REALIZE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED & ROSE AGAIN TO PAY FOR YOUR SIN. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 5. PRAY & ASK JESUS CHRIST TO BE YOUR SAVIOR & CLAIM HIS PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Church Roots: Berean Baptist Temple is a place where you and your family can become rooted and grounded in God’s Word. We have exciting programs for for everyone from our youngest child in the nursery to the eldest person in a service. Tara and I would love to meet you personally, and it would be our pleasure to have you visit our church soon. |
